The US preserves Northwestern Hawaiian Islands as 75th National Monument 
President George W. Bush has defied his critics in the environmental movement and signed into law protection for 12 hundred miles of islands and surrounding marine habitat stretching from Hawaii to Midway Atoll in what has been called the Hawaiian island chain now to be formally known as the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve.

Resident concerns over superferry come late
