Republican gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann stumping in Washington 



Republican gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann will make two campaign stops in Washington today as part of his weeklong "Reform One" bus tour across Pennsylvania. Swann will stop at noon at the New Tower Restaurant, 680 W. Chestnut St., and at 12:35 p.m. at Angelo's restaurant at 955 W. Chestnut St.

Jobless claims edge downward 



First time unemployment claims dip to 313,000 for week ending July 1. WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- New claims for U.S. jobless aid unexpectedly edged down by 2,000 last week, according to government data released Thursday that signaled ongoing health for the U.S. job market.

Victim identified in Bardstown Road crash 



A Mount Washington man was killed and another man was injured in a head-on collision on Bardstown Road about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. James F. Browne, 26, was killed when his Chevrolet pickup truck was struck by a Saturn that was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Bardstown Road just south of Thixton Lane.
